Reporting to the Associate Vice-President of Human Resources, the Director, Organizational Design & Development is responsible for designing and implementing organizational structures that ensure optimal organizational design in support of the university’s strategic and operational plans. In addition, the Director designs and implements organizational development programs to support an effective and productive work environment, consistent with the university’s People Strategy and human resources principles and priorities.  Lastly, the Director provides information, advice, and support in managing change as it relates to organizational design and development. 
 
As the the Director, Organizational Design & Development, you will:
 
  • Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of an organizational design framework informed by strategic planning, community and leadership consultation;
  • Lead organizational effectiveness assessments, significant organizational design and change initiatives and organizational culture assessments;
  • Develop and implement best in class organizational design and change processes and tools in order to support positive organizational change;
  • Oversee and support the job description process by working closely with appropriate senior leaders to ensure accurate descriptions of work responsibilities, knowledge and skillsets;
  • Regularly conduct learning and development needs analysis in order to understand university needs and inform learning and development programming plans;
  • Develop and implement a full range of leadership development programming designed to support a strong and positive leadership culture at the university, including identifying, assessing and engaging with external partners/providers;
  • Develop and implement performance management programs across the university, including the annual performance cycle, succession planning and career pathing programs;
  • Working with a network of internal and external partners, build a robust set of ongoing employee development offerings designed to support the talent needs of the university and development needs of staff and faculty;
  • Lead projects arising out of HR department strategic planning in order to support the continued evolution and growth of the HR department;
  • Provides leadership to Organizational Design & Development portfolio and its staff.
 
This may be the right opportunity for you, if you have: 
 
  • An undergraduate degree in a related field (e.g. Human Resources, Organizational Development, Adult Education, etc.);
  • At least 10 years of demonstrated applicable experience in professional Human Resources roles, including experience in developing and implementing a variety of training and coaching methodologies, including 5 years in a leadership position;
  • Experience in a highly unionized environment;
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation;
  • Proven track record of success in aligning organizational development and processes to meet strategic needs of an organization;
  • Knowledge of organizational design theory and organizational design processes coupled with strong project management skills;
  • Knowledge of relevant employment legislation at the provincial and federal levels;
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, practices and principles and current change management theory practices and principles;
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential matters on a regular basis and to manage these situations using sound and mature judgment;
  • Understanding and experience using process improvement tools (Six Sigma, Lean or Industrial Engineering principles) to assist in organizational review and design;
  • Advanced knowledge and use of computer applications including MS Office suite, video collaboration and HRIS technologies;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and motivate others to achieve desired results and create a positive work environment;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to tactfully and efficiently handle problems and seize opportunities by providing appropriate solutions;
  • Demonstrated systems thinking skills and the ability to understand systemic impacts on performance, behaviour and decision making;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to multitask in an environment filled with competing priorities;
  • Self-starting, goal oriented with the demonstrated ability to initiate, design, plan and execute multiple complex projects simultaneously;
  • Demonstrated ability to champions change and gains support for new initiatives.
 
Preferred or Asset Skills:
 
  • Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation
 
Salary and Benefit Information
 
  • Job Grade P ($83,094 – $118,347)
  • This position includes full comprehensive benefits coverage, including tuition waiver.

Director, Organizational Design & Development

The Placement Officer elicits, obtains, and makes experiential learning placements for Faculty of Education (FOE) students. 

Manager, Community Relations

Reporting to the Executive Director, Government & Community Relations, the Manager, Community Relations is accountable to lead the development and maintenance of key community and domestic partnerships and the implementation of Brock’s Community Engagement Strategic Plan. 

Communications Officer, Development

Reporting to the Director, Development & Stewardship, the Communications Officer, Development supports, development, and donor relations objectives of the University by building and executing integrated donor relations and communications plans including departmental websites, collateral, reports and newsletter publications, and social media.

Student Programming Coordinator - Goodman School of Business

Reporting to the Director, Communications & Engagement, the Student Programming Coordinator works within the Communications and Engagement team of the Goodman School of Business (GSB) and is responsible for developing, implementing and assessing programs and opportunities that engage the wider Goodman School of Business student body and builds a spirit of belonging to Goodman.

Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of a broad spectrum environmental health and safety systems and initiatives, including the organization of programs and training for the prevention and management of environmental risks.

Alumni Coordinator, Goodman School of Business

The Alumni Coordinator will create, facilitate, implement, and promote programming, initiatives, and events to engage alumni and students and continuously seek to enhance the Goodman Alumni Network (GAN) and foster growth.
